As Dan Rather himself might say, at age 85 and 12 years removed from CBS News, the chance of a Rather comeback is “about the same as finding a stick with one end.”
But that indeed is what is happening and it’s happening on Facebook. Rather’s observations and commentary on the Trump administration on his News and Guts page are turning him into a social media sensation. A profile in Politico Magazine suggests Rather has been waiting for his moment his entire career: A chance to take on a great demagogue in a pattern reminiscent of Murrow vs. McCarthy.
