WPKN in Bridgeport is facing the possibility of going dark unless it can raise money to modernize its transmitter.
It has a furniture store going out of business sale ring to it, but the bottom line is the alternative FM station has been using old vacuum tubes in its transmitter since 1963 and they don’t make them anymore. The station is trying to raise $75,000 for an update.
