The last 24 hours have seen a number of reports of layoffs and programming changes at WTIC-AM in Hartford, once known as the 50,000W Pulse of New England.
Newsmen Kevin Gorden and Greg Little have been let go according to sources with internal working knowledge of WTIC operations. The move leaves only three people in the newsroom of a station once considered essential to the Connecticut news audience.
We have also received a report that over night local news programming has been suspended or eliminated and replaced with a national network news feed from CBS.
The Laurel has unconfirmed reports of layoffs at WRCH – one of WTIC’s Connecticut sister stations – and possible additional cuts yet to come.
