Advertisers and users are flying away from X, formerly known as Twitter, following remarks made by Elon Musk last week and a sense that the platform is becoming “a cesspool of hate speech” and conspiracy theories.
Connecticut Attorney General William Tong announced last week he is quitting the platform. On one level this is an easy decision for a politician, on another, it’s not so easy for someone seeking votes to walk away from a channel that puts him in the conversation about policy issues and offers a direct line to voters.
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal is still on X, but he seems to be laying the groundwork for an eventual walk.
